Abstract
The world is fighting an invisible enemy since outbreak of corona virus in the month of November 2019 that uses human
body as carrier spreading Covid-19 disease for which there is no cure available yet. This makes maintaining physical
distancing necessary for safety of workforce while ensuring minimum effect on productivity of the organization. Indian
IT companies are also affected by this scenario as the nation as a whole or partially has gone under lockdown from time
to time and the companies thus have asked their staff to work from home, which is also known as telecommuting or
telework, hereinafter mentioned as ‘WFH’ i.e. work from home. WFH is beneficial for many but carries its negative side
as well. The unexpected forced isolation coupled with personal conditions and problems is taking a toll on the employees
and might affect their productivity, efficiency and health in the long run. Human resource departments have the critical
job of maintaining the most valuable asset of any organization i.e. its work force. The responsibility to smoothen this
transition lies on HRDs in the companies.
The research paper aims to assess the impact on HRDs of IT companies in India amidst this chaos and suggest some
measures. They are now required to brace themselves and lead the way by finding and implementing measures to ensure
effective conduct of business as usual while maintaining safety of their workforce with special focus on their
psychological state.
