Abstract

Summary:In the play “Aadhe-Adhure”, Mohan Rakesh has given a graphic and realistic portrayal ofthe middle class sensibilities in the 1960s. He has created a story about the status of a middle-classhousehold facing family breakdown, mental tension and moral decay due to unemployment andeconomic disparity. He has vividly presented the frustrations and identity crisis each family memberexperiences and depicts how these experiences make family life distressing and unbearable. Eachmemberof thefamily feelssuffocated inanother member’spresence.
