Abstract

AIM- The aim of the current studyto identify perception and expectation of orthodontic treatment for different age group.
METHODOLOGY-Total sample included in the study was 500 subjects. Three age groups were considered in the study. A pretested self-administered questionnaire was used to analyze perception and expectation of orthodontic treatment among general population in Tamil Nadu by using online Google Form.
RESULTS-Among the 500 participants, 265 were male and 235 were females. Female (355(71%)) are more interested for orthodontic treatment compared to male (145(29%)). Compared to three age groups, first group i.e, 20s patient’s had increased rate of positive perception towards orthodontic treatment was 73.6%.
CONCLUSION-The result revealed that 20s patient’s had increased rate of positive perception towards orthodontic treatment was 73.6%. A future study needed for understanding the demands of older adults( two groups )and their misunderstandings regarding orthodontic treatment.
