Abstract

The 3D printing technology due to its applications on various platforms has caught the interest of medical device business and pharmaceutical business within the health care industry. Three Dimensional Printing (3DP)iscalled as ‘Additive Manufacturing’.It is a process where 3 Dimensional (3D) physical devices and preparations are fabricated by applying the coating in successive layers of x, y, and z axes with digital sketches acquired from CADD. In 1986, the method of 3D printing was patented; on other hand, the investigation in the 3DP was notaccepted until the previous decade as evidenced by recently available technical reports on the topic.  In 2015,USFDA accepted the Spritam,3D printed medicine using 3DPtechnology.Although this technology came into existence in previous decade, due to lack of proper regulations it is least utilized. 3DP technology is gainingextreme importance due to the authorization of 3D products and their effectiveness in treatment of ailments. This technologyis becoming popular with the initiation of USFDA’s regulation for additive manufacturing of medical devices.This article presents advantages, disadvantages, applications, methods, limitations, troubles in establishing such setups for the manufacture of medicinal products and associated risks concerned with their production. 3DPofferabroad consideration of investigation.The present review address the ongoing research in 3D bioprinting of DDS, itsuses, versatility, regulatory issues and potential directions in the fabrication of novel 3DPproducts by the pharmaceutical industry and health care sector.
