Abstract

One hundred of sediment soil samples, collected from four different locations of the Baghdad city (Harthyia, Jadreia, AL Qadesia and Karada). From 100 samples, only 85 samples gave bacterial growth, 45 (52%) samples are a species of Streptomyces, so only 15 soil isolates (17.6%) were suspected to contain Streptomyces griseous. The isolation of local Streptomyces griseous, that is capable of producing novel bioactive compounds, characterizing and purifying the secondary metabolite and detection by TLC plates and a solvent composed of ethyl acetate: methanol: water(10:1.5:1) Two resulting spots that detected.
