Abstract

Background: Active Release Technique and Kinesio Tapping both helps in improving muscle flexibility and strength. So the main objective of this study was to compare the effectiveness of Active Release Technique and Kinesio Tapping in chronic postural neck pain. This will help us to find out the most effective treatment to improve chronic postural neck pain in individuals with forward head posture or people with computer workers.Methodology: 60 subjects aged 18-30 years from Dept. of Physiotherapy, were recruited for this study after obtaining informed consent. The subjects were divided into two groups of 30 each. Pre-test and Post-test measurements were taken by Oswestry pain index (OPI), Neck Disability Index (NDI) and Cervical Range of Motion (ROM). Group ‘A’ received Active Release Technique and Group ‘B’ received Kinesio Tapping. Results: There are significant Effects on reducing the neck pain, improved flexibility and range of motion after receiving the techniques. Conclusion: In this study, two groups showed the significant effects on reducing the neck pain, improving flexibility and range of motion after receiving the techniques. However, there was a significant difference following the application of Kinesio Tapping Technique as compared to Active Release Technique in improving range of motion and reducing neck pain as determined by Oswestry pain index (OPI), Neck Disability Index (NDI) and Cervical Range of Motion (ROM).
