A Study on Factors Affecting the Quality of Life Stroke Patients in Nursing Hospitals: Focusing on Occupational Balance

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to identify the Occupational balance of elderly people with stroke and to examine the effect of these variables on their quality of life. Forty patients aged 65 years or older living in a nursing home were surveyed for 3 months. Occupational balance, depression, Activity daily living, and quality of life were assessed. The collected data were analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS. Occupational balance(r=.541, p<.001) and Education level(r=.334, p<.05) showed positive correlations with quality of life and depression(r=-.725, p<.001) showed negative correlation. Finally, the variables that have the greatest effect on the quality of life were analyzed as Occupational balance and depression. Occupational balance and depression should be considered as the goal of occupational therapy intervention to improve the quality of life of the elderly hospitalized with stroke.
