An Insight into the World of LASERS and its Applications in Orthodontics

Abstract

Lasers, though developed many years ago, has still not made itsway into mainstream clinical Orthodontic practice. The implications of lasers are vast, both in general dentistry and orthodontics with multiple uses and advantages over the current methods of practice. Due to nescience of laser therapy, most practitioners opt out of mastering the same and thereby, this review aims at providing a comprehensive understanding of both the Laser itself and all of its implication in Orthodontics, both clinical and non-clinical. Topics to be discussed include the components, classification, interactions and effects, types and uses of lasers. A short note on hazards and disadvantages of the same are also included.
